چکیده

mitral valve prolapse (mvp) is a relatively frequent valvular abnormality. in both children and adults with mvp, an increased incidence of ventricular arrhythmias has been reported. qt dispersion, defined as the difference in duration between the longest qt interval and the shortest one, for a given set of electrocardiographic leads has been proposed as a sign of regional difference in cardiac repolarization and as a marker of increased risk of ventricular arrhythmias. this study was designed to compare the corrected qt dispersion (qtd) in children with isolated uncomplicated prolapse with a normal age-and sex-matched group of children. twenty children with mvp (mean±sd age: 8 ±5 years) and thirty normal children enrolled in the study. corrected qt dispersion was manually calculated on their surface electrocardiogram in all of them. qtd was 3 9± 14.7 and 40± 15.2 milliseconds respectively. an unpaired student t -test was performed . there was no significant difference between the mean value of the two groups (p value

Relation between QT dispersion and ventricular arrhythmias in uncomplicated isolated mitral valve prolapse.

Complications of mitral valve prolapse (MVP), among which serious ventricular arrhythmia and sudden death are of major importance, affect many individuals due to the high incidence of MVP itself in the community despite the actual low incidence of these complications. The present study investigated the incidence and distribution of ventricular arrhythmias according to their severity and relatio...

QT Variables of Isolated Mitral Valve Prolapse

Purpose: It is thought that arrhythmias are responsible for sudden deaths in patients with mitral valve prolapse (MVP). QT intervals may predict malignant arrhythmia potential in these patients. The aim of the present study is to assess QT variables in patients with MVP. Methods : We studied 46 patients with non-rheumatic, uncomplicated and isolated MVP and 25 healthy control subjects. All indi...

QT dispersion and ventricular arrhythmias in children with primary mitral valve prolapse.

AIM To investigate ventricular arrhythmias in children with primary mitral valve prolapse and to evaluate its relation with QT length, QT dispersion, autonomic function tests and heart rate variability measurements. MATERIAL AND METHODS Fourty two children with mitral valve prolapse and 32 healthy children were enrolled into the study. Twelve-lead electrocardiograms, autonomic function tests,...

Marcus-gunn phenomenon with- mitral valve prolapse

Marcus-gunn phenomenon is a congenital and sometimes hereditary anomaly, in which a ptotic eyelid retracts momentarily when the mouth is open, or the jaw is moved. These associated movements attributed to abnormal connections between the central mechanisms innervating the pterygoid and elevator muscles. Sometimes this anomaly is associated with dual,s retraction syndrome, duplex kindneys and ur...
